What are Your Values? Worksheet

This worksheet is meant be used as a tool for self reflection. Often conflicts arise when we feel that other people’s values do not match our own, or when our perceived rights are infringed upon. Being aware of what our values are and how that might impact our behavior, especially in a cross cultural setting, can help us be better prepared to deal with issues in a godly way. Rate each value with a number between 1 and 5, with 1=low value and 5=high value. In this context we are referring to the things that are of high or low priority to you, the things that make you feel at ease or uncomfortable. Then take some time to reflect on and pray about preparing yourself spiritually for potential conflicts. For example, if you value privacy highly, being in an environment where you share your space with many others may be a challenge for you, and you may want to pray specifically about this. If effective use of time is a high value for you, you may be more easily irritated if a schedule is not followed, so you can be praying in advance for grace and patience in those situations. Helpful scripture passages to meditate on are Philippians 2:1-11 and 1 Corinthians 8:9-13
