Progress on La Escuelita school in the Dominican Republic

We have had a school at La Baliza for our younger boys, as well as children from the community, for several years. Around 27 children attend La Escuelita. Currently the school meets in various locations on the ranch, depending on what is available. It has long been on our wish list to have a building dedicated just for the school.

Last year, land was cleared and footings were poured. In March a team of thirteen people from Wisconsin spent a week at La Baliza completing the next phase of the school building- building the lower block walls and putting the electrical and plumbing systems in place.
The next phase will be upper wooden walls, and in June, a team from California will put on the roof. Our new school will have four classrooms, bathrooms, and an office. Needless to say, our teachers and students are super excited!

Venezuela News: Baptism

We are celebrating the baptism of three of our boys, Godson, Maikel, and Anthony! We are grateful to God for letting us see how they have grown and flourished in their ways. It was especially wonderful to see Maikel and Marvin’s mom and sister be baptized as well.

Boys, we love you and thank God for your lives. Go forth in His grace! “So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ”. Galatians 3:26-27

D.R. News: Work team from Wayne’s Environmental

In December of 2015, a team of six from Wayne’s Environmental Services in Birmingham, Alabama went on their first ever mission trip to Ninos de la Luz. The project before them was to build a drainage system and lay sidewalks around the newest boys’ home at La Baliza.

They worked so hard to accomplish the task in the week they were there. Through strength only they Lord could provide and encouragement from each other, they completed the project, and did a wonderful job. Now, they are excited to see the ten new boys who will soon move into the home to grow and learn at Niños de la Luz.
